Globe Postpaid lowers cash-out for LG G4

After 3 months of being launched in the Philippines, LG Philippines cut P4000 off the SRP (Suggested Retail Price) of LG G4 from P32,990 to P28,900 for the G4 with Leather back case, and  from P31,990 to P27,900 for the G4 with metallic back case. 

Globe followed the move by lowering its cash-out for new and re-contracting subscribers. You can go ahead and check it out at the Globe online store, or visit the nearest Globe branch near you.

I got very enticed, and tempted as I am considering to get this phone should I decide to recontract, migrate to the new myLifestyle Plan, and be locked with Globe for 2 years.

Smart started offering the LG G3 at a lower plan!

Yes, you heard it right! The ultra-sleek LG G3 is now offered to Smart Postpaid Subscribers at a lower plan compared to Globe's. Take note that this is the LG G3 16GB ROM and 2GB RAM variant.

If you don't want any cash-out, you can get the phone FREE on Plan 1799 with 2.5 years lock-in period. Of course, lower plans or lock-in periods mean higher cash-out rates. Plan 1299 with 24 months lock-in - P11,000 cash out. Plan 999 with 24 months lock-in - 14,400 cash out. If you have a credit card, the cash-out can be converted into 12 to 24 months installment.  

According to some users, there are limited stocks in select Globe stores. If you plan to re-contract, just call the hotline, and pick-up the LG 
G3 at a Globe store near you.

Kitkat Upgrade for LG G2 from Philippines is now available!

With the screenshot taken from my LG G2 purchased from Globe Telecom, it suggests that Kitkat upgrade is now available via LG Software Upgrade Tool. This also means that it will be availale tomorrow via OTA. 

Connect your LG G2 to your PC now and and try to upgrade via Upgrade Tool and let us know if you're able to upgrade.

Globe's Great Gadget Sale (Dec 27-29, 2013)

In case you have not heard, Globe will be holding the "Great Gadget Sale"  tomorrow at Glorietta 5.  From the details, they'll allow you to trade-in your old phone to get as much as 90% discount on their phone offers. 

Rumor Mill: LG Nexus 5 to be released in the Philippines

Rumor has it that LG Nexus 5 will be released in the Philippines next week! The phone will be sold through a major carrier, and other "legit" gadget shops.

If this is indeed true, I will assume that the major carrier is Smart since they released the LG Nexus 4 last year. It is also safe to say that it will be free under LTE data plan 1500 as the Nexus 4 is free at Data Plan 1500.

For the unlocked LG Nexus 5, I guess the price range will be from P18,000 to P23,000 which is clearly far from the original retail price of the phone in the US.

I just hope the 32GB version of LG Nexus 5 will be free on LTE Data Plan 1500, or will be largely be at stores as this phone does not have an microSD expansion slot.

Official Jellybean update now available for Optimus L5, L7, L9 and 4X in the Philippines

The latest version in Android is now available in select models of the first-generation LG Optimus L Series smartphones!  For Optimus L5, L7, and L9, users may now upgrade their current Android to Jellybean OS.

The Jellybean version adapts the functional features of earlier updates of Android such as Gingerbread, Honeycomb, and Ice Cream Sandwich, but it also includes new developments to further beef up the dynamic and consumer-centric package of smartphones.

For one, audio feedback and gesture controls are enhanced for a more sensory and accessible user experience.  Smartphone screens are made more visually attractive with smoother and speedier graphic displays as well as improvements in web browser and file management.  Intuitive experiences are pushed even further with smarter keyboard predictions and the Jellybean’s advanced natural language voice command.  The most impressive inclusion of the Jellybean would be Google Now, which gives the user information relevant to the current situation, such as train schedules while one is on a subway platform, traffic or weather conditions while on the road, and many more.

To upgrade, customers may visit any authorized LG Mobile Service Center or download Jellybean through http://www.lg.com/ph/support.  Users of Optimus L9 may also choose the built-in Firmware Over-the-Air or Software Upgrade Option.

The Jellybean update is also now available in LG’s first Quadcore device, the Optimus 4X HD.
